In this article we'll go over theΒ FilesΒ section of your cPanel and give a brief description of what you'll find behind each icon.
- File ManagerΒ - This icon will open a Windows Explorer type file manager in which you can upload, download, view, edit, and manage all files stored within your hosting account.
- ImagesΒ - This iconΒ allows you to modify and manage images that are saved to your account. Specifically, it allows you to Thumbnail, Scale, and Convert images uploaded to your hosting account.
- Directory PrivacyΒ - This icon allows you to apply password protection to a specific directory in your account. It basically applies htp password rules to the directory you define which will then prompt users who go to that directory in a browser for a username and password to proceed.
- Disk UsageΒ - This icon gives you a detailed breakdown of your disk usage within your account.Β
- Web DiskΒ - This icon allows you to to manage, navigate, upload, and download the files on your web server. It works in a manner akin to creating a network folder on your local PC. This is an advanced user option.
- FTP AccountsΒ - This icon allows you to add and configure FTP Accounts for your hosting. You can create FTP accounts that are directory specific if you want to give a web developer access to work on a site but not allow them access to any of your other files.
- FTP ConnectionsΒ - This icon shows any current active FTP connections to your account.
- BackupΒ - This icon allows you to create and download a full or partial backup of your entire cPanel account to store on your local PC.
- Backup WizardΒ - This icon also assists with both the creation and restoration of full or partial backups of your account.Β
- Git Version ControlΒ - This icon allows the creation and management of Git repositories. This is an advanced user options and requires shell access to utilize.
